一部过于小资的文艺片 (卡罗尔 影评)

对carol非常的期待. 同志电影一直是我的心头好，说不出个一二三，就好这一口。就像大家讨论谁会进入超级碗，我毫不迟疑地回答西雅图海鹰队。下载了胖大海美女分享了片源后，几度忍不住打开想一睹为快。最后还是耐着性子做完眼睛检查，去完健身房，认真吃完晚饭，收拾好去明尼苏达的行李，一切都安排妥当，带着一颗虔敬的百分之百投入的心打开电脑。

典型的文艺片，拍得干净却又靡丽。cate Blanchett绝对是贵妇的代言人，举手投足，一颦一笑，雅致而撩人，男人爱，女人也爱。有她的电影注定是一部时尚大片，剪裁得体的礼服，大衣，帽子，手套，每一件单品都淋漓尽致地展现了20世纪50年代纽约的风情。搭配在气场强大又曲致玲珑的blanchett身上，要说整个影片是一个时装秀也不为过。

摄影无疑是本片的另一个亮点，熟稔自然的长镜头和聚焦之间的切换，拍出朦胧与真实相互交错的美感。特别从车窗外打进去的几个面部镜头，就像一幅油画，美轮美奂。就连床戏部分也好像一场迷你人体艺术展。

两位女主人的表演也是可圈可点。Blanchett完全驾驭了角色所需要的气质，堪称本色出演。作为上流社会的女主妇，她冷艳高贵，时尚典雅。作为一位母亲，柔情满溢。对于不被社会认可的性取向，她大胆直接却又纠结挣扎。而mara也是后生可谓，台词表情动作自然真切，完全到位。结尾处的眼神交流，特别是blanchet 那迷人眼神，完美表达了超越千言万语的各种情愫。

另一个印象颇深的地方是导演擅用细节来表现情绪和微妙关系的功力。Carol在纽约街头抖抖索索找打火机，也就几秒钟的镜头，却足够体现她慌乱无措的情绪。当carol的丈夫酒醉后闯进家门，carol迅速的冲到门口，但是即使如此突然慌乱的时刻，她依旧很自然的抓起旁边的高跟鞋，一边说话一边把鞋子穿上。 在丈夫面前，carol似乎已经习惯成自然的保持高贵完美的形象，甚至在自己家里都要穿上高跟鞋，就像橱窗里的芭比娃娃，永远美得一丝不苟。然而与therese一起，她脱下高跟鞋，和衣在小旅馆的床上横躺着就睡着了。那时候的她是真实而自然而然的。电影没有太多讲述她的婚姻状况，但是这些看似无关紧要的细节却是无声胜有声。

尽管电影拍得极具功力，演员表演实力 也是不容置疑，然而故事本身却略显单薄。很有趣的时代背景和阶级背景，然而元素过于单一的故事情节让电影有些缺乏嚼头。在五十年代同性恋所遭遇的尴尬，女同，特别是therese对于忽然生发的性取向转变的困惑和矛盾挣扎，两位女主之间的情感发展都交待得模糊而肤浅。简单的情节过渡有些过于美化这段超越阶级和年龄和性别的爱情。两次见面外加一段公路旅行，像是加长版的廊桥遗梦前部分，散发着浓郁的浪漫主义风情，然而却缺少廊桥遗梦后部分最引人深思和想象的现实主义。相较于其他几部同题材的电影，比如米尔克，男孩不哭，女魔头，甚至去年的imitation game，carol的编剧在矛盾冲突及微妙复杂这两点上有些像台湾台湾爱情片，有些小家子气，缺少可以进一步探讨的厚度和深度。大概也是因为戏码不够丰富，电影看到中场透着一丢丢缓慢冗长的气息。

总体来说，本片在摄影，音乐，服装及场景设计，以及演员表演等方面都很有建树，但是故事本身相对单薄，在同类片中，算是平均值偏上吧。一部有些过于小资的文艺片。

The theme of homosexual relationships is always intriguing to me, without a reason that I could explain clearly. Therefore, Carol definitely was a must on the “to see” list.

It is definitely an artistic film. The costume design, in my opinion, is the most shining aspect in this movie. The fashion of 1950s New York that appeared in the film certainly is a selling point of the movie for female audiences. Cate Blanchet’s stunning body shows off the elegance and beauty of every dress and coat she wears.

Photography is another achievement of this movie. The focus on a detail, the blurred scenery from the car window, the experienced, but seemly natural, switch from long distance to a point, made the movie a piece of art.

Acting, no doubt, is at a masterful level. Kate Blanchet and Rooney Mara did an excellent job in this movie. The struggle of being different in sexual preference, the courage to being true to one’s self, the confusion of the biological and affection pulse, the complexity of subtle feeling and emotion are appropriately conveyed by their performance. The eye touch in the end of the movie, especially Blanchet’s charming eyes, tells everything that no words could express.

Another part of the movie that impressed me is how it excels at using subtle details to express feelings and relationships. One is that, when Carol’s husband ran into the house, Carol rushed to the door, but grabbed her high-heel shoes and put them on, walking in the house. It seems she is used to looking elegant and perfect in front of her husband, like a Barbie-doll. But when she was with Therese, she was more comfortable to be herself. The movie did not tell too much about the issues in her marriage, but these details conveys some essential information.

One of the most significant components of a movie is the plot. The story is the sculpture of a film. For Carol, it is an interesting story, but relatively too light. I mean, the story itself is not exciting compared to other movies with similar themes, such as Milk, or Boys Don’t Cry, or Monster, or even The Imitation Game. The story is too simple to fill the movie, therefore, the whole movie seems too slow to some degree.

In conclusion, Carol did an excellent job on the photography, music, costume design, and acting. But as mentioned above, due to the shortcoming of the story itself, it is an average work among all movies in terms of homosexual themes.
